長く待たれていた清水裕貴の初写真集。十年に渡る水辺をめぐる旅は、写真と言葉の重層を通して、新しく風景を立ち上がらせた。
水と人の関わりから生きている時間を問い直し、水の循環に巻き込まれている存在の切実な物語を探る。
写真によってつくり出された抽象的で不思議な時空と、言葉の世界、黴と埃の関与 ── それらが合わさって、ここであってここでないどこか、失われた人に会える場所、異なる時間が同時に存在する空間が現れる。
皮膜感の表紙を潜り、撓うページの光とともに、たたずむ影が語りだす。岸辺の写真集。

この写真集は、水辺の旅の写真、潮間帯に生きる架空の生物の話、水中から攫いにくる何者かとの会話、海水や黴で腐蝕させた写真で構成されている。

水は人々の生活に不可欠なものだが、同時に大きな災いをもたらす存在でもある。人は時に川を神に見立てて、海に怪物の影を見つけ、湖の水面や白波の向こうに亡くなった人を幻視した。
私は十年に渡り水辺を旅して、身投げした姫が龍神になった川、生贄が捧げられた池、毒を浄化する湖、雨乞いのお祭り、水の喜びを歌う人たち、オアシスの街の跡、古代湖が干上がった砂漠などを撮影した。その傍ら、水神にまつわる伝承や、水害などの記録を集め、フィクションの世界を立ち上げて言葉を綴った。
それは風景の多層性を表現する試みである。

風景と写真は常に一致しない。カメラによって二次元に再構築された風景は、現実の視界とは大きく異なる光の絵だ。撮影者の目だけではなく、レンズの身体性、黴や埃の足跡、風と雨、水蒸気の振る舞いが複雑に絡み合う。撮影者は恣意的な操作と外界の干渉の間で揺れ動きながら、今ここに立っていることを保存しようとする。

しかし写真が描き出すのは、思いがけない他者の気配だ。
数秒前、数十年前、数百年前にいたかもしれない何者かの気配が、誰もいない草むらに生々しく立ち上がる。
私はそこにいる何者かの気配をよりはっきりと掴むために、撮影した場所を何度も歩き直し、言葉による風景の再構築を行った。言葉は私の心象を表現したものではなく、被写体の直接的な説明でもなく、風景を語り直したものだ。
その言葉を添えることで、過去の一瞬を切り取った写真へ、撮影後の時間軸からも干渉を加える。
もう一つ撮影後の時間軸からの干渉として、ネガフィルムを黴や海水で腐敗させた写真もシークエンスに加えている。
異なる階層から語られた風景は波のようにぶつかり合い、そのはざまに新しく風景が立ち上がる。

風景に蓄積された過去、他者の声に耳を澄ます装置としての写真の可能性を探る。

Artist Information 


清水裕貴
2007年 武蔵野美術大学映像学科卒業。2011年 1_Wallグランプリ受賞。2016年 三木淳賞受賞。土地の歴史や伝承のリサーチをベースにして、写真と言葉を組み合わせて風景を表現している。2017年頃から小説の執筆を開始。2018年、新潮社「女による女のためのR-18文学賞」大賞受賞。『ここは夜の水のほとり』（新潮社・2019）、『花盛りの椅子』（集英社・2022）、『海は地下室に眠る』（KADOKAWA・2023）を出版。 
主な個展はPURPLE「眠れば潮」（2023）、スタジオ35分/A'holic「よみがえりの川」（2023）、PGI「Empty park」（2019）「微睡み硝子」（2022）、Nikon salon「地の巣へ」（2019）、Kanzan gallery「わたしの怪物」（2018）など。



Yuki ShimizuBorn in Chiba, Japan in 1984. Graduated from Musashino Art University, Japan in 2007. Shimizu received the 5th photography 1_WALL Grand Prize in 2011 and the 18th Miki Jun Award in 2016. Shimizu uses photography and prose to weave stories rooted in the history and lore of landscapes.
She began writing novels around 2017; in 2018, she won the Grand Prize of Shinchosha's "女による女のためのR-18文学賞". She published "よみがえりの川" (Shinchosha, 2019), "花盛りの椅子" (Shueisha, 2022), and "海は地下室に眠る" (KADOKAWA, 2023). Recent solo exhibitions include PURPLE "Fall asleep and disappear into the sea" (2023), Studio 35min/A'holic "The River of Resurrection" (2023), PGI "Empty park" (2019) "Half Dreaming Glass" (2022), Nikon salon "To the underground" (2019), Kanzan gallery " Dear my phantom" (2018), etc.
